Back Country Bog

FOLDING CHAIR REDESIGN

The chair features a flap that covers up a hole and transforms it back into a high-end camp chair, when not being used as a toilet. the detachable cross brace transforms into a shovel for excrement burying. The Backcountry Bog can face most environments with its interchangeable feet. A bag on the back of the backrest adds extra storage being big enough to fit the head of the shovel in.

This project involved developing a folding chair, and creating a variety of designs featuring different manufacturing methods and materials.

Prototyping

We were tasked to also create a half-scale model to bring our design to life. Some full-scale parts of our model were created as well to best convey our design.

Below is a collage of images of our prototypes.

The folding chair project was both rewarding and challenging. Our team worked very well together, each covering the other’s weaknesses with strengths. It was very interesting to design something that was a bit out there. My role on the project was to think about materials and form.
