Waka Glider

Māori Myths & culture Playground design

In a group of 6 we were tasked to design three pieces of playground equipment for Playco. During the design phase there was physical testing, ideation, development, consultation with Ngai Tāhu, and the UC Māori department. CAD and renders.

The piece that I primarily worked on was the Waka Glider. The Waka Glider is a flipped version of the already existing Playco piece: the spider glider. It features Waka’s that you stand on to move to the other side. We thought this would promote the Maori stories of navigation thus tying into our theme.
