The Fluorine Style Guide Manual reflects a cohesive and deliberate approach to creating a strong, science-inspired brand identity. The process focused on translating the chemical characteristics of fluorine — reactivity, energy, and brightness — into a distinct visual language. By building the identity around “the most reactive and electronegative element,” the guide successfully connects scientific precision with contemporary design aesthetics.
The chosen colour palette of Lightning Yellow, Fluorine Yellow, Stone Grey, Dark Grey, and Dense Black communicates both intensity and sophistication. These tones not only represent the reactive nature of the element but also allow for striking contrast and clear legibility across digital and physical applications. Typography choices reinforce this duality: Hoverunit brings expressive personality and a futuristic tone to headlines, while Neue Haas Grotesk Display ensures clarity and professional balance in supporting text.
Throughout the process, the challenge was to maintain visual harmony while expressing energy and dynamism. Careful attention was given to spacing, hierarchy, and logo application rules to ensure consistency across touchpoints — from packaging and app tiles to signage and merchandise. The final outcome is a flexible yet distinct system that can adapt across media without losing its identity. You can use this layout block as a little about me blurb or use it on top of projects to and add a description. Poster for style guide application
To create the Fluorine toothpaste box, the design process followed the established style guide to ensure visual consistency and brand cohesion. The packaging applied the primary colours — Fluorine Yellow, Lightning Yellow, and Stone Grey — to reflect the brand’s energetic and reactive qualities. The logomark and typography were carefully positioned to maintain clear hierarchy and balance, while adhering to the spacing and colour contrast rules set in the guide. The result was a clean, modern design that visually communicates the brand’s science-inspired identity.
Following this, a promotional poster was developed using the same visual principles. The layout, colour combinations, and typefaces were selected directly from the style guide to maintain brand unity. The poster highlights the toothpaste box as the central focus, using the split-contrast layout with Fluorine’s signature yellow to capture attention and reinforce brand recognition. Together, both the packaging and poster demonstrate how a cohesive style guide can translate into strong, consistent visual communication across different applications.
